Me on a mission trip? I never dreamed I would dream of going on mission trips. It was never on my radar. But when you give God your life, His radar becomes yours. And your heart becomes His.
In July, 2011, I was invited to go to Costa Rica on a mission trip. My immediate thought was “Thanks but no thanks.” My standard reply. I don’t like to travel. I used the excuse, “I have a mission right here in the good ole US of A. I don’ t need to go anywhere.” But this time I heard God whisper to me, “Joyce, this is for you.” So, I went. And it was amazing.
While in Costa Rica, I fell in love with the people. I could not speak their language, but I realized that the language of love is universal, and God used His love to bless many lives.
The next fall, I led a group of women to Honduras and I was hooked! We met Gaby, our translator and the rest, as they say, is history. We went to Costa Rica and connected with Pastora Sonia from Miramar, and our International Team was born!
Since that trip, we have been to Honduras and Costa Rica several times, Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Cuba, and are planning many future missions to Central American Countries. It has been such a blessing to see so many hearts touched by God’s extreme love. I have found that emotions are universal and that Jesus wants to heal hearts and transform lives, regardless of language or location.
We have set up a Facebook Page to share the ministry of missions that God has given us. I hope you will visit and be blessed by seeing how God is using us to share his message of healing and hope.
